A Walk for Education
Saturday October 14, 2017
Arlington, TX
The goal of A Walk for Education is to increase awareness of the opportunities available through education particularly in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Volunteers will walk door-to-door in an underserved community to distribute information regarding college admissions, vocational school programs, GED, SAT/ACT, NSBE, financial aid, and other helpful resources.
Students of all ages, parents, community leaders, and residents are invited to the center for food, to ask follow-up questions and to participate in STEM activities following the walk.
This year, the NSBE DFW Professionals Chapter is partnering with the Prairie View A&M Cooperative Extension Program 4H for their Technology Collaboration Youth Technology Explosion. The walk will be held at Vandergriff Park, while the STEM activities fair will be at the Maverick Activities Center on the UTA Campus.
