Originally from South Carolina, Kat earned her bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a minor in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina. Currently, she is a software engineer. 

Kat's journey in computer science started after years of pursuing the medical field in high school and first 2 years of her college experience switching between the sciences and mathematics. Ultimately she decided to pursue a field where she already had an interest and experience of web design within her student organizations (and MySpace coding haha). Coming from a community where exposure to computer programming was non existent, Kat initially didn't realize it was a viable career path. Now she aims to serve as a role model for young people of color to show them a career in technology is achievable.
